This atlas formalises the morphospace of civilisational types detectable by CAMS. It gives threshold rules, node‑activation profiles, coupling signatures and decision logic so that a blinded case — an organisation, city, region, sector, historical polity or contemporary society — can be submitted, scored and classified without reference to its name. It does not claim these eight types are exhaustive: they are the minimum set of meaningfully distinct attractor regions recovered so far. New evidence may warrant subdivision, merger, or the addition of new types.
Two different readings, not competing ones
The Instrument's epiphenomenon reading is local and instantaneous — what one node (Shield, Lore, Flow…) leaks into the culture at one point in time (Doctrine vs Siege Mind vs Stand‑down). This atlas is the complementary system‑level classifier: which stable configuration of all eight nodes — which activation profile, coupling motif and floor/ceiling — a whole trajectory belongs to. Epiphenomena are the weather; morphospace type is the climate.

The eight morphospace archetypes
Each card's radar is the archetype's z-scored σ activation profile relative to the full dataset — axes clockwise from top: Lore (Lo), Archive (Ar), Helm (He), Stewards (St), Shield (Sh), Craft (Cr), Hands (Ha), Flow (Fl).

Grounded classification
Running the classifier over the full 1750–2026 span of all 36 societies in the instrument — ranking each by mean node activation σⁱ over its whole recorded history and scoring the result against each archetype's dominant/secondary node set. This is a first pass on full-span means; a windowed, trajectory-aware version (needed properly for Post-Catastrophe Workshop, which is defined by slope as much as level) is the natural next iteration.

Λ₂ coupling (x) vs dominant-node σ activation (y) — 36 societies, full-span means
{{ la.name }}
Dashed lines trace the three societies with the largest morphospace displacement across their recorded span (open circle = early quintile mean, filled = late). Archetype labels mark cluster centroids.

no clean match in this dataset
Method note: node activation σⁱ is averaged across each society's full recorded span, then nodes are ranked and matched against each archetype's dominant/secondary/lagging node set with rank‑weighted scoring. Λ₂ is the full‑span mean algebraic connectivity. This is a heuristic first pass, not the JUNO blind‑test protocol described in the source draft — treat placements as illustrative, not certified.
